Ask any class 12 student about their future goals and the majority of the time you will get an utterly confusing answer. It is not because they are ambitionless nor have any idea about what to do in the future; it is because they do not know the correct steps or educational eligibilities, they need to pursue their vision.

Most students consider that the class 12 board results are the wind underneath their wings. They are, but only if the student knows how to take advantage of the various directions and paths that are accessible to them – they can fly wherever they want.

Since, a student has a plethora of choices to choose any diploma, certificate or degree courses; it can be confusing, overwhelming and limitless. The most useful advice in such situations is to pursue the path that fascinates and inspires you to accomplish your best.

Career Options for Science Students

Let’s look at the traditional and popular career options for science students. .

  1. Tech/B.Eng.:It is one of the most popular and preferred career options for science students. Most of the parents in India want their children to become an engineer. Every year around 15 lakh engineers graduate according to AICTE data.

       2.B.Sc.: Bachelor of Science. Both PCM and PCB students can elect to join this 3-year program. You can specialize in different subjects like chemistry, physics, mathematics,                              computer science, biology, etc.

      3.BCA: Bachelor of Computer Application is a 3-year program. As a career option, it is perfect for candidates who are looking to build a career in the world of Information Technology              and Digital data.

       4.B.Arch.: A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is a five-year graduation course which gives them knowledge of the science behind the building, construction, interior and exterior                     designing. The students need to clear NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) to get admission in the recognized architecture colleges.

Career Options for Medical Students

A common preconceived notion in a traditional Indian family is that if it is a boy then ‘engineer’ or if it is a girl then ‘doctor’. After engineering the second most famous career path is Medical.

Students who have an interest in Biology or they want to become a doctor can choose this stream.

        MBBS: Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery is one of the most popular education choices for people studying Biology. The five-and-a-half-year course prepares students for             the rigorous demands of a doctor. The specializations you can choose from are many, and it is regarded as one of the most rewarding career paths. Many doctors had shifted from the           field to focus on research and created path-breaking treatment options.

        BDS: It is a 5-years Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery. It is the initial choice of many students who want to become doctors minus the pressure of a surgeon or doctor of medicine.              Students who finish the course can choose to become dental surgeons.

Pharma: Bachelor in Pharmacy is another lucrative course for biology students. It’s a 4-year course, and you can practise as a chemist after completion of the degree. B. Pharma                   students are preferred by Medical companies as Medical Representative with generous salary packages and other perks.

        Paramedics: There are numerous other Paramedical programs as well, that student can pursue after 10+2. These courses are specialized programs that relatively take sub-speci                   alization in a particular domain. Some of the famous paramedical courses are ECG technology, anaesthesia, lab technician, and others.

 

Career Options for Commerce Students

Commerce is also considered to be one of the most popular career options after 12th. The Class 12th students who study commerce will cover Economics, Accounts, Business Studies, and Mathematics.

        B.Com: It is one of the most popular graduation programs for commerce candidates. Bachelor of Commerce is a 3-year course with an abundance of specializations like Financial                 Accountancy, Economics, Business Organization, Business Statistics and others.

You have the option to choose either B. Com or B. Com (Hons) depending upon your 10+2 marks. More or less, both courses are alike, but B. Com (Hons) has a higher value given                 that the subjects are more complex.

       BBA: Students who are interested in Business and Management can go for Bachelor of Business Administration. This program is the primary step for students who are considering               doing a Masters in Management. It offers a great career opportunity for students as they get to know a lot about the dynamics of management and other issues related to business                administration.

        Charted Accountant: Charted Accountancy is one of the toughest courses in the world, and students should be willing to work hard to become certified Chartered Accountants or              Cost Accountants. After 10+2, you can study a Fundamental Course of either Chartered Accountancy (Approved by ICAI, New Delhi) or Cost Accounting (Approved by ICWAI,                      Kolkata).

       Company Secretary: Company Secretary is a course for students who are interested in pursuing the study of taxations from a financial and investment perspective. Students will                 gain knowledge and insights about company affairs and all its legal aspects. This program is conducted by the ICSI, New Delhi.
